Description
The LDR (Light Dependent Resistor), also called a photoresistor or light-sensitive resistor, is an electronic component that changes resistance based on light intensity. In bright light, its resistance becomes very low, while in darkness its resistance becomes much higher. This makes the LDR perfect for detecting light levels in automatic street lights, night lamps, solar trackers, brightness sensors, and various Arduino and ESP32 projects. The sensor can easily be connected in a voltage divider circuit and read by a microcontroller using an analog input pin.
Key Features
- Detects changes in ambient light intensity
- Resistance decreases as light increases
- Easy to interface with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontrollers
- Low cost and simple to use
- Ideal for analog light sensing applications
- Compact and lightweight through-hole design
- Suitable for both indoor and outdoor projects
